James: Freedom from Dead Religion
James, the half-brother of Jesus, was a doubter who became an influential leader in the church after a life-changing encounter with the resurrected Christ. His letter was the first New Testament document written and is the first Christian writing that we have modern knowledge of.
James' emphasis is that hearing God’s word should inspire action. True religion involves more than merely believing theological doctrines. Belief in the gospel of should shape a person’s life. Our prayer is that our study of this historic document will lead us to become a church that loves the Word of God, striving to radically apply its truths to every facet of our lives.
We believe that grace is big enough to change a person and a city.
To put it simply, we are a family of missional disciples that are transforming Memphis by the gospel of grace for the glory of Christ. Our name, Christ City Church, is intentional, as who we are, how we behave, and what we do on a week by week, day by day basis all stem directly from it.
Join Us Sundays at Fairview Middle School
As recently announced, we’ve found a new home at Fairview Middle School. Located at the corner of Central Avenue and East Parkway, Fairview allows us to continue to do ministry as a Midtown church. Physically, it is a classic building with Art Deco-styled architecture, a newly updated auditorium, and plenty of classrooms for our ever-growing Christ City Kids.
Join us on Sundays at 10:00am at Fairview Middle School.
